Homemade Mac & Cheese

 


Ingredients:

 8 oz. elbow macaroni

3 tablespoons butter

3 tablespoons flour

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

2 cups whole milk

1/2 teaspoon hot sauce

1/2 teaspoon salt

8 oz. block sharp cheddar, shredded

 

Preparation:

Cook the macaroni according to the package directions.  Place the butter, flour, and onion powder in a medium pot. Whisk and heat over medium until the butter is melted. Once bubbling, continue to whisk and cook for 1 minute.  Whisk in the milk over medium heat until the milk begins to gently simmer.  Turn the burner off.  Season the white sauce with salt and hot sauce.  Add the shredded cheddar a handful at a time, whisking it in until completely melted. Continue until all the cheese has been melted into the sauce. Add the cooked and drained pasta to the pot with the cheese sauce and stir to combine. Enjoy!
